I consider it a good strength weapon, i used it for most of my playthrough and was quite good, but in the late game i changed it for the Meat Cleaver and in NG+ i used the northen regalia but that said the claymore is good for most of the areas so for me it is a good weapon. I'm also assuming you have them enchanted with 35 agi, since that is commonly the case (for the extra crit, along with the AP). If you find yourself in a drawn out fight where both parties are doing minor damage it can be a saving grace.
